WELCOME TO CHATTANOOGA BEAR PRIDE!
Chattanooga Bear Pride replaced Chattabear after 5 years to become its own entity.
Wayne Taylor was co-chair for two of those years with Chattabear. Wayne Taylor has now migrated over to become the chairmain for Chattanooga Bear Pride. Wayne is a native of Kentucky and has called Chattanooga,Tn his home for 14 years now. He works hard for the bear scene in Chattanooga and has been a member of the Lookout Bears for 5 years. Wayne has served on the Lookout Bears board for 4 years now.
Chattanooga Bear Pride was formed to promote an annual gathering for bears, chubs, chasers, leather, and other gay friendly men to share a fun-filled weekend, with an ultimate purpose to raise money for local charities here in Chattanooga, Tn. The event is coordinated by the chairman and various assistants including members from the Lookout Bears club, but is not an officially sponsored event of the Lookout Bears.
The first year for CBP was the largest charity run here in Chattanooga raising $2,000 for Chattanooga Cares (www.chattanoogacares.org) as its selected beneficiary. This year also boasted the largest amount of participants of all our previous runs. It is anticipated to continue its growth over the coming years.
Don’t let the name “Bear Run” mislead you. It is primarily an event catering to bigger, bearish guys, but all types of guys are welcome. We typically have guys ranging from gay, bi, leather, otters, cubs, smooth, tall, thin, etc. All gay/bi men are welcome to attend; all we ask is that you are open to many shapes and sizes of men. We are all here to have fun, raise money, and be ourselves. One of our goals of the run is to have guys from other countries coming here so we can show them our southern bear hospitality, as well as to share our culture and theirs.
CBP is currently planned to be hosted every August as its set time of the year. Some other tying events may occur during the year to kick off the event (some are planned for January and June).
Thanks to all that came in 2011 for making it a great first year as Chattanooga Bear Pride. We hope to see all you again next year. Get the word out and bring some friends with you. The more the merrier, and the more money that can be raised for charity.
